When you meet Shawn, the first thing you notice is his calm, steady presence, the kind of demeanor that puts patients at ease instantly. But beneath that easygoing exterior is someone who manages an incredible balancing act: keeping Vertrae®’s physical therapy department running smoothly while giving patients the encouragement they need to keep going.

Shawn’s role is unique. Some days, he’s on the floor with patients, guiding them through exercises and helping them regain strength. Other days, he’s behind the desk, verifying insurance, coordinating schedules, and making sure every detail is in place for the week ahead. No matter where he’s working, his approach is the same: be patient, stay organized, and always focus on what helps the patient move forward.

“I hope every patient walks in and feels comfortable and confident in the care they’re being provided,” Shawn says. “Progress happens step by step, and it’s our job to help them see each one.”

His love for healthcare is rooted in family, growing up with a nurse for a mother and a doctor for a father, Shawn saw firsthand how meaningful patient care can be. That perspective drives him to give his best each day, whether he’s helping a patient through their first PT session or making sure tomorrow’s schedule is set.

Away from the clinic, Shawn enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog, playing pickleball and golf, and unwinding with a good book and a great meal. He’s also a devoted Buffalo Bills fan, which means he knows a thing or two about persistence—on and off the field.
