Registered Nurse

Sarah Groh

When you meet Sarah, the first thing you notice is her calm, steady presence, the kind of presence that makes you feel instantly more at ease. But behind that quiet confidence is a nurse with both extraordinary skill and a genuine heart for people.

Sarah’s path into nursing was inspired by her dad and grandmother, both nurses, who showed her how meaningful a life of care could be. Early in her career, she found herself in the intensity of the ER, where she quickly learned how to stay composed under pressure. One of her first cases was a critically ill patient in respiratory distress, hours of urgent intervention that left her forever aware of the power nurses have not just to save lives, but to comfort families in the hardest of moments. That experience shaped the way she shows up for every patient: calm, compassionate, and fully present.

At Vertrae®, Sarah is often the reassuring voice patients hear before their appointment, calling to review symptoms and prepare them for what’s ahead. She guides them through the paperwork and logistics that can feel overwhelming, then steps into pre-op and PACU to make sure they feel supported through every step of surgery and recovery. Patients know they can count on her not only for clinical expertise, but for her kindness, clear communication, and ability to make stressful situations feel just a little lighter.

Her goal is simple but powerful: that every patient feels safe, supported, and cared for like family.

Outside of work, Sarah is full of energy and joy, running marathons, swimming, and spending time with her four nephews. She’s also helping to start a new church in Huber Heights, bringing the same heart for service into her community. And true to form, she’s never far from a strong cup of black coffee, sometimes even delivering it with a smile to patients waking up from surgery.
