Steady. Compassionate. Always Ready.
There is something you notice immediately when you meet Sarah.
It is not just the credentials on a wall or a title on a badge. It is the quality of her presence: calm, grounded, and engaging. The kind of presence that helps a nervous patient exhale before a word is even spoken.
At Vertrae®, Sarah is often one of the first reassuring voices patients encounter. She prepares them before appointments, supports them through surgery days, and brings both clinical precision and real human compassion to every step of the process. For patients navigating fear, pain, and uncertainty, she is the steady constant.
Her goal is simple :
“I hope they feel that they can trust us to provide the best care possible for them, and that this helps ease any anxiety they may have.”
A Calling Shaped by Family
For Sarah, nursing was never just a career decision. It was something she grew into by watching the people she loved most.
“My dad and my grandma were both nurses. They seemed to enjoy what they did and being able to help people.”
That early imprint stayed with her and deepened through experience. One of the defining moments in her career came in the ER, just days after orientation. It was a brutal flu season. A critically ill patient arrived in severe respiratory distress, and Sarah found herself at the center of a rapidly evolving situation: monitoring vitals, communicating with family, supporting the care team, and holding steady when everything around her was moving fast.
She did not freeze. She showed up.
That shift, and many like it, shaped the nurse she is today: composed under pressure, deeply attuned to both the clinical and emotional needs of the people in her care.
A Role That Touches Every Part of the Patient Experience
Sarah’s work at Vertrae® spans far more than a single lane. Before appointments, she calls patients to review symptoms, confirm imaging, and make sure the team has everything they need to prepare. She coordinates MRIs, assists with FMLA and workers’ compensation paperwork, and helps patients navigate systems that can feel confusing and exhausting on top of an already difficult situation.
On surgery days, she is there in the OR guiding patients before they go under anesthesia and welcoming them back when they come out.
What she brings to each of those moments is a rare blend: clinical knowledge, problem-solving, and the ability to make someone feel genuinely seen.
“I enjoy it when I’m able to recognize a patient’s diagnosis based on their symptoms and presentation. I enjoy being able to answer patients’ questions and guide them through the process of surgery and recovery.”
What Keeps Her Grounded
Healthcare has heavy days. Sarah knows that, and she has found her anchor in the outcomes she witnesses firsthand.
“I remember patients who came in for their new-patient appointment, very anxious or upset, telling me how they couldn’t function in their daily lives. We ended up being able to fix their underlying conditions and help them return to normal.”
She does not lose sight of what is at stake. Behind every chart, every phone call, every pre-op checklist is a person whose life has been interrupted by pain, and who is trusting this team to help them get back to it.
That perspective is also why she loves being part of Vertrae®.
“I love the people I get to work with. I also enjoy being able to deliver personalized care to patients — to help them feel safe and comfortable when they’re in stressful situations.”
Beyond the Clinic
Outside of work, Sarah brings that same energy and intentionality into her personal life. She spends time with her four nephews, sees friends, runs, swims, and unwinds with a good book. She is also helping launch a new church in Huber Heights — another reflection of her commitment to community and service.
And if you did not already guess it: Sarah runs marathons.
Her coffee order — black, no frills — is perfectly on brand. And one of the most quietly perfect details she shared? She loves waking patients up from surgery with a cup of coffee and watching how genuinely excited they are to drink it.
It is a small moment. But it says everything about how she practices care.
